Meet the Expert: Tyler Parr

Meet Tyler Parr, Digital Specialist, whose intellectual curiosity and passion in digital marketing has always made him naturally curious about everything and obsessed with the 'why' behind the 'what’ in marketing. Tyler joined Argus Leader Media almost a year ago and is responsible for planning and implementing multi-channel marketing strategies, including lead generation, customer communication and online credibility. He has the experience to make sure you succeed in the online world.
Q: How did you get starting in advertising?
A: Initially, my attraction to advertising was the fact that marketing has so much persuasion on people’s buying behaviors. As a millennial, I grew up in an era where advertising was not only utilized on one platform but served on multiple platforms. Throughout college I learned to appreciate advertising on another level because I understand that every business has a story, and I discovered that I wanted to help share that story.
Q: What’s your favorite part about coming to work each day?
A: Every day I have the ability to help a business succeed in the dynamic digital world. I find that every business is unique, and I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions that are tailor made for them. I understand that the digital world can be intimidating; I enjoy the ability to go into a business and teach them the importance of utilizing digital in their marketing solutions. From there, I help create innovative ideas and provide solutions based on consumer insight and data, which can help make the process easier.
Q: What’s one marketing strategy every business should be using?
A: As we live in the “social generation,” the ability to read valuable content and share it via digital platforms provides an extreme value to the advertiser. Native advertising is a digital advertising method that has more of an editorial style. Every business should consider this as the advertiser attempts to gain attention by providing content in the context of the user's experience. Native advertisements have a specific intent, which is to make the paid advertising feel less intrusive and thus increase the likelihood of users clicking on it.
Q: Give an example of a time you helped a client succeed.
A: I recently helped a local garbage/recycling business that has been in business since 1960 break into the Google world by utilizing our premier partnership with Google. They wanted to grow their residential waste removal service while maintaining market share with their commercial waste service. We partnered and implemented a digital solution- including paid (Pay Per Click) and organic (Search Engine Optimization) search on Google. Our solution has helped their business appear on the first page of Google and they have generated 25 new leads in the three weeks of the campaign performance.
Q: What advice do you have for current and prospective clients?
A: 1) Always remember who your target audience is, and cater to that audience. In order to have an effective marketing campaign, you need to advertise to the audience that wants to see your message and will interact with that message. When it is time to evaluate your marketing solutions, do not be afraid to try new ideas. Advertisers thrive on clients who are innovative and want to share their vision.

Many businesses market their business using the same strategies they have used for years. The challenge of successfully promoting your business lies in your willingness to step outside the box and try new tactics.
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
